Zig Zibit, Inc. is happy to announce its recent hire of Shon Welsh, who has joined the team as the Director, Sales and Account Services working from the headquarters in Durham, NC. In this role Welsh will lead efforts to drive overall company growth through his support of the existing sales program and account management functions.

I was attracted by the company’s vision for growth, reputation for putting their customers first and the great pool of talent already in place,” Welsh said. “I’m excited to play a part in the future of Zig Zibit, and it certainly doesn’t hurt to be back on the East Coast.

Welsh’s career has had him moving back and forth across the USA working on all types of projects, big and small, with all sizes of organizations. From his roots at a small shop in Raleigh where he learned everything from project management to crate building, Welsh has prioritized customer service, going above and beyond to execute successful exhibits and experiences. His pride in finding new and innovative ways to share those experiences within the industry have made him a perfect fit for Zig Zibit.

“This is a brand-new role at Zig Zibit,” says President and CEO, Jake Merzigian, “but as we continue to find success for our customers and growth for our organization, we realize the need for a strong, and experienced leadership team. Shon is an all-star in the industry and offers a wealth of knowledge and experience that will greatly benefit the Zig Zibit team and our customers. We couldn’t be happier to welcome him at Zig Zibit.”

Zig Zibit is a full-service exhibit/display design, fabrication and production company located in Durham, North Carolina. Hockey Night with the Raleigh Police Department and Carolina Hurricanes

Hockey Night with the Raleigh Police Department and Carolina Hurricanes

The Raleigh Police Department organized an awesome event to support Special Olympics of North Carolina at the PNC Arena. We were beyond excited to be involved. The night began with a show and tell by the RPD, featuring the department’s horses, motorcycles, K9 units, bomb squad and their SWAT truck in the parking lot. The night culminated with a showdown on the ice between the RPD blueliners and a team of Carolina Hurricane alumni.

The show and tell was tons of fun for our mascot Zig, who loves any opportunity to get out and interact with the people, and there were a lot of people. Attendance for the free event reached over 1000.

During the game, Zig drove the crowd wild and was honored to share the spotlight with Stormy, the mascot for the Carolina Hurricanes. Between donations, merchandise sales, the “chuck-a-duck” activity and the memorabilia auction, the total funds raised for the Special Olympics of NC blew away the record set at the previous year’s event.

It was a night we will never forget and for a cause we are proud to stand behind.

With community support, Special Olympics can transform lives through the joy of sport, each and every day.

Every day they empower athletes to shatter stereotypes and exceed their personal bests on the playing field and in life. But for every inspiring Special Olympics athlete in North Carolina, there are 6 more people waiting for their chance - and so many more around the world.

We encourage you to get involved or to make a donation.

Triangle Fast 50 2018

Triangle Fast 50 2018

Each year, Triangle Business Journal recognizes 50 area businesses as the fastest growing, through their Fast 50 award program. Winners are selected and ranked based on a formula that counts revenue growth and profitability in the preceding three years.

This year marks the second consecutive year Zig Zibit has been honored with a spot on the list. As Jake wrote when we were named on last year’s list, we are extremely proud to be included, because of what growth represents and what it allows for Zig Zibit.

In short it makes us feel that our core values are appreciated by the market and it allows us to continue adding capabilities to best support our clients.

The importance of those relationships really sinks in when reviewing the entire 2018 TBJ Fast 50 list and realizing that 8 of those companies are Zig Zibit clients.

Seeing so many clients throughout the night’s winners was the most rewarding part of the experience for us.

We are intent on making it back on the list in 2019 and we are excited to do our part in driving growth to help even more of our customers make it as well.

Mike's Big Race!

"Where is he?  He should have been here by now?"  I said at 3:30 a.m. as I sat in the bucket seat of a seven-passenger van stuffed with spare running shoes, snack food, five guys and a pallet of waters.

A Big Thank You From Jake, CEO

A Big Thank You From Jake, CEO

As we pack up the team to head to Exhibitor 2018, I can’t help but reflect on how far we have come as a company in a year. Nothing says how much we are changing than the fact we were named one of the top 50 fastest growing companies in the Triangle in 2017.

Meet Craig Kassan, Fabricator and Master Woodworker - turning wood into art

Meet Craig Kassan, Fabricator and Master Woodworker - turning wood into art

Craig Kassan turns wood into works of art. For over 6 years, Craig has created amazing exhibits, displays and trade show environments as a master fabricator. For over 25 years he has been an artist-in-wood creating stunning sculptures and fine furniture from raw wood. “The versatility of wood is what I love. You can do so much with wood – build a house, create furniture, sculpt, mold, carve…you can do anything”.

Keith Erickson Doesn’t Need The Credit

To Keith Erickson, seeing his name in the long, rolling credits at the end of the movie would be more than enough. That, and the satisfaction of knowing he built the sets that framed all of the action and drama.

Keith did get a taste of working in show business when he worked on set construction for some commercials and for one season of the television program, “The Game.” Today he works in the slightly less glamorous world of trade show exhibits as our CNC router operator.
